……and she has answers to your questions on Osteoporosis and Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Read Now
What is Osteoporosis? --- It is basically the loss of bone (termed "bone mineral density" or BMD) such that bone becomes thinner, weaker, and more likely to break.
Osteoporosis is fairly universal after spinal cord injury (SCI), meaning that most people with SCI have some degree of osteoporosis, the severity of which depends on factors such as how complete the SCI is, time since SCI, body build, activity level prior to SCI, gender, age, medications taken, and any other medical conditions that might affect bone.
